The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is a 57-year federal workplace giving tradition that has raised more than $8.3 billion for charitable organizations. It is one of the largest workplace giving campaigns in the world. The funds raised each fall through this campaign help neighbors in need around the corner, across the nation, and throughout the world. During the campaign, federal employees can choose from a list of thousands of vetted charities to support. The CFC makes it easy to Show Some Love to the causes you care about. Whether you are passionate about disaster relief, veteran services, animal rights or cancer research, the CFC has a charity for any cause you want to support.


It’s the time of year where people may be counting their blessings and paying it forward more than usual - health P, family P, food on the table P, roof overhead P.  However, there are some who may go without.

It is called the Combined Federal Campaign - established by a Presidential Executive Order in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, it is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign.

The CFC is the only authorized solicitation of employees in the federal workplace on behalf of non-profit organizations. Federal employees can designate contributions to local, national and international agencies.

It represents vetted charities, they are diverse and include local, national and international, secular and religious, military-affiliated and civilian, people oriented and animal oriented.

Pledges can be made by DoD civilian and military donors during the campaign season, Nov. 16, 2018, thru Jan. 11, 2019, in support of eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.

Each unit’s designated CFC representative is available to provide a CFC guide that includes a list of eligible charities, information about the charity and a pledge form.

Donors have a choice in how to contribute, including cash, check or payroll deduction.

The CFC has 36 campaigns annually, supporting more than 21,000 different charities each year.

This year the CFC project lead is Capt. Scott Yancey, 83rd Aircraft Maintenance Unit.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to better Offutt’s CFC,” he said. “I know all the effort put in supports all the various causes that CFC includes, and being part of an $8.2 billion gift to charity is pretty humbling.”

This year the 55th Wing has a goal of $100,000 and U.S. Strategic Command has a goal of $100,000. The combined effort for Team Offutt is $200,000 with an objective to make contact with 100 percent of personnel, so everyone will have an opportunity to contribute.

“I want to let people know that every single dollar donated or every single hour volunteered makes a significant impact somewhere,” Yancey said. “The fact that you can pick your charity means you have total control over what you donate. If you’re part of the 89.3 percent that doesn’t usually donate, consider skipping one cup of coffee and instead giving that $5 to a cause you consider worthy. Guaranteed that out of the 21,000 charities, at least one will be worthy.”
