An eye for healthy vision

The 55th Medical Group's optometry clinic works hard to ensure their patients have healthy vision. One tool they use is a device called a non-contact tonometer. This device conducts tests which enables the optometrist to determine how healthy the eyes are and whether additional tests are needed to optimize the patients vision needs. Airman First Class Adrianna Yazzie, 55th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron ophthalmic technician, demonstrates how she uses the device to provide routine eye exams and to look for abnormalities that can adversely affect the patient. The device measures the intraocular pressure of the eye and prints the results so the optometrist can make an informed decision about the patient's vision. <br/>
<img src='https://media.defense.gov/2026/Jul/15/2003961599/300/300/0/260709-F-XI160-8058.JPG' alt='Airman First Class Adrianna Yazzie, 55th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron ophthalmic technician, uses a non-contact tonometer to test the eye pressure on a patient at the 55th Medical Group Ehrling Bergquist Clinic in Bellevue, Neb., July 9, 2026.
Base veterinarians care for Offutt's furry friends

Offutt's Veterinary Facility provides routine wellness and preventative care for the 55th Security Forces Squadron's military working dogs and pets of military families. The care they provide is vital for the animal's health and well-being. Base veterinary office's are typically staffed by Army Veterinary Corps personnel and civilian veterinarians. Offutt is no exception. Offutt's Army trained veterinary staff recently provided dental care to a small Maltese named Bobo. His dental procedure included having his teeth cleaned and some teeth extracted. Tooth extractions, which can help treat severe periodontal disease, tartar buildup, rapid bone loss, loose teeth, and painful infections, are commonly performed on small dogs. Bobo's care is one example of how Offutt's veterinary experts help improve the quality of life for our furry friends. <br/>
<img src='https://media.defense.gov/2026/Jun/22/2003952429/300/300/0/260616-F-XI160-7572.JPG' alt='U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Flood and Finstad visited Offutt Air Force Base to assess progress on the installation’s recovery and modernization following the historic 2019 flood and discuss Offutt’s current and future mission requirements. The visit underscored Offutt’s strategic importance to national defense and the need for sustained investment to ensure the installation remains resilient, operationally relevant and prepared to support combatant commanders across the full spectrum of competition and conflict.
Offutt remains focused on war fighting readiness, developing mission-ready Airmen and delivering cutting-edge capabilities that provide a decision advantage to national leaders and joint force commanders. Through deliberate modernization, disciplined execution and a culture of innovation, Offutt is strengthening its position as a second-to-none innovation base — ready to meet today’s operational demands while developing the capabilities needed to deter, compete and prevail against future threats.
