During the 2015 holiday season, Team Offutt came together in support of charitable organizations through the 2015 Combined Federal Campaign.

In the end, Team Offutt raised more than $196,000 in support of 2,300 international, national and regional charities.

"In the 55th Wing, the top performer was the 97th Intelligence Squadron," said U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Holger Dunwald, CFC manager.  "Our partner units also exceeded their combined goal by 15 percent."

The 97th IS did more than just e-mail coworkers for donations, they also held fundraisers.

"We collected money through individual donations and also with fundraisers," said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Amy Long, 97th IS CFC coordinator. "The most popular was the Pie-in-the-Face fundraiser that raised $8,000."

Long knows why her campaign was successful.

"I printed out my list of 425 people and went office to office," Long said. "I sent e-mails when I had to, but I preferred getting up and talking to people face to face."

According to Long there is more to the CFC than just giving.

"Before I started, all I really knew was that it was a way to donate each year," Long said. "By volunteering to be the Unit Representative, I have learned more about the many great charities."

"It is a great way to donate and the campaign itself is a great way to enhance awareness," she added.

For those who missed their opportunity to contribute to the CFC, the next CFC donation cycle will begin around September.

If you are a member of the Air Force, there is another fundraiser you need to be aware of and that is the Air Force Assistance Fund. There will be efforts to collect donations soon for the AFAF. If you are a civilian, you are not permitted to use the pay deduction but you can make a cash or check donation if you like.  For more information on AFAF, see you unit representative or visit here.
