Become part of the MOB

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. --

If you are new to Offutt and the Greater Omaha Metropolitan area and find yourself looking for other Guardians to help with a raid in Destiny on your preferred gaming console; want to advance your skills in public speaking; or just want to enjoy some tennis and need a partner then Make Offutt Better (MOB) is just for you.

MOB is the hub for connecting people with others in the Offutt community who have the same interests or goals.

MOB is hosting an information fair May 17, 2 p.m. in the Patriot Club to introduce Team Offutt members to the various clubs available.

“The 22 plus clubs are designed to promote social interaction among members of Team Offutt,” said 2nd Lt. Valyn Gipson, 55th Medical Support Squadron medical information systems flight commander and MOB committee lead.  “This event is meant to be informational and the clubs are open to all of Team Offutt and their family members.”

“There will be clubs for Jeep enthusiasts, the enlisted and officer’s spouses clubs, the Offutt Humanist Group, the Offutt Marauder’s hockey team, a geocaching club, a gaming club and more,” Gipson added.

For Airmen arriving to Offutt AFB their first duty station or a spouse new to the area and feeling isolated with the rumors of nothing to do in the local area, 2nd Lt. Gipson had this to say:

“I was born and raised right here in Omaha and there are a lot of things to do and enjoy,” Gipson said. “The MOB wants to be there to help everyone connect with others who have the same interests.”

The MOB Facebook page or “Club Hub,” is the one-stop-shop to view all the current club options.  Members of the Offutt community are encouraged to join or create a club.

“If anyone has any issues finding a club or want to start a new one, just let the MOB main group help you out,” Gipson said.  “It is easier than you think and the benefit of having that common bond is priceless.”

Team Offutt Airmen have been forming clubs prior to the adoption of MOB, but they can now increase visibility and awareness by utilizing the central hub.

The array of clubs that Team Offutt currently hosts and will host keeps growing to connect people and hopefully create a common bond and a community.
